In this surgical video, Dr. Priya Narang performs iridodialysis repair using a riveting technique with double-flanged polypropylene suture. This method was first described by Drs. Mami Kuasaka and Masayuki Akimoto from Japan. In this case, Dr. Narang begins by creating a scleral grove along the length of the iridodialysis, performs phacoemulsification and implants the IOL into the capsular bag. Next, she creates a flange on one side of a 6-0 prolene suture, flattens the bulbs and uses a 30-gauge needle to pull the suture through the anterior chamber and iridodialysis. Additional flanges are made on the remaining end of the suture to prevent slippage.
