  • Cataract/Anterior Segment

This analysis of data from 77 questionnaires and 54 site visits collected from the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery TASS task force found that the most common behavior associated with toxic anterior segment syndrome (TASS) was inadequate cleaning and flushing of ophthalmic instruments and handpieces. Use of intraocular medications with preservatives or additives was also a factor in a significant number of cases. Reuse of single-use products and poor instrument maintenance and processing were other risk factors.
