At the conclusion of the AAO 2023 symposium on "Green Ophthalmology: Our Sustainability Mandate," Dr. Aakriti Garg Shukla presented a call to action for ophthalmologists to reduce surgical waste in their practices. One way for them do to this is to visit EyeSustain and sign the pledge found there; another is to take the "2-Week Challenge," where surgical staff take notes on which items are not actually used during 2 weeks' worth of cataract surgeries.
