  • Alon Harris is the Letzter-endowed professor of ophthalmology and a professor of physiology and biophysics at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He is the founder and director of the Glaucoma Research and Diagnostic Center there. He received his master's and doctorate degrees at Indiana University, Bloomington, and did postgraduate work at the I.U. School of Medicine in physiology and biophysics.

    Professor Harris serves on the executive committee of the International Glaucoma Society and is an associate editor for Acta Ophthalmologica. He has received numerous honors, including the Edmund Benjamin Spaeth Oration Award for Outstanding Clinical Research and the William and Mary Greve International Research Scholar Award from the Research to Prevent Blindness organization. He is the author of more than 170 peer-reviewed journal articles, nine books, and 35 book chapters, and he has presented his findings internationally.
