  • Dr. Mintz-Hittner, a pediatric ophthalmologist, is a graduate of Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine. She completed a pediatric internship and ophthalmology residency at the Baylor Affiliated Hospitals and a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at the Texas Children's Hospital. She has coauthored many peer-reviewed articles, including classical articles on retinopathy of prematurity that demonstrate the peripheral avascular retina as the source of an angiogenic factor.

    A member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology since 1976, Dr. Mintz-Hittner was the recipient of the Academy's Senior Honor Award in 2005.

    Dr. Mintz-Hittner is currently the Alfred W. Lasher III Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston Medical School.
