  • Dr. Fine is a clinical professor of Ophthalmology at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland and a co-founder of the Oregon Eye Surgery Center. He has held local, state, and national leadership positions within organized medicine and ophthalmology. In 2001 he served as the president of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), and he is currently the secretary of the International Intraocular Implant Club (IIIC).

    Specializing in cataract/IOL, refractive, and anterior segment surgery, Dr. Fine has been in private practice in Eugene, Oregon since 1970. He has received numerous achievement awards for his innovations in and contributions to medicine. In 1999 Dr. Fine was named one of the 25 most influential ophthalmologists of the 20th Century by a vote of 16,000 ophthalmologists worldwide as polled by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Fine has also been a visiting professor at 29 medical schools in the United States and abroad and has delivered 12 named lectureships. He has designed instruments and implants and has been responsible for several innovations in surgical procedures.
