  • Dr. Alió is professor and chairman of Ophthalmology at Miguel Hernández University in Alicante, Spain. In cooperation with this institution, he created the Instituto Oftalmológico de Alicante and the Jorge Alió Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness. Due to its advanced technology and high level of patient care, the Instituto Oftalmológico is considered one of the most important eye care centers in the private sector. Dr. Alió has received multiple international awards for his clinical and research work in ocular neovascularization and inflammation, preventive ophthalmology, refractive surgery, and anterior segment surgery. He is a member of 26 scientific societies and holds executive committee positions in the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), the International Society for Refractive Surgery of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (ISRS/AAO), the International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS), and the European Association for Vision and Eye Research (EVER).
