  • Dr. Levinson is health sciences professor of ophthalmology at the University of California at Los Angeles's (UCLA) Jules Stein Eye Institute in the David Geffen School of Medicine. He grew up in New York City and was a physician's assistant in internal medicine and family practice in New Mexico before entering medical school at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Levinson completed his residency training and a fellowship in ocular inflammatory disease at the Jules Stein Eye Institute. Afterward, he joined a private practice group in New Mexico that specializes in uveitis and comprehensive ophthalmology. Four years later, he joined the faculty at UCLA.

    Dr. Levinson focuses his clinical practice on uveitis and comprehensive ophthalmology. His research interests include the immunogenetics and mechanisms of uveitis, as well as clinical studies of uveitis. He is a board member of the Jules Stein Eye Institute's Clinical Research Center, which was created to provide support services to individuals engaged in patient-based research. He is also a member of the International Uveitis Study Group and received an Achievement Award from the Academy in 2009.
