Dr. Spaide completed his residency in ophthalmology at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center of New York in 1985 and subsequently did fellowship training in vitreous/retina at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital. Since 1994, he has been in private practice with Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York.
Dr. Spaide is Executive Editor of the American Journal of Ophthalmology and editor/reviewer for multiple journals. Among his many awards, he has received the Richard and Linda Rosenthal Foundation Award in the Visual Sciences, the Honor Award from the American Society of Retinal Surgeons, and the Senior Honor Award from the American Society of Retinal Surgeons.
