  • Dr. Cionni is the medical director of the Cincinnati Eye Institute, where he has practiced since 1989. He specializes in cataract and lens implant surgery, performing nearly 2000 surgeries each year, and has established himself as a leader in his specialty by pioneering some of the most advanced cataract and implant techniques. He is also actively involved in clinical research that brings the latest technologies to his patients.

    Dr. Cionni has authored numerous articles and textbook chapters about specialized cataract techniques, medical technology, and the management of complications. Dr. Cionni has designed special implants and surgical techniques to improve the surgical outcomes in patients with traumatic cataract and congenital lens subluxation as found in many patients with Marfan’s syndrome. In addition, he teaches surgeons nationally and lectures internationally about the use of these devices and techniques in addition to several others.
