In this video, Dr. Abdelwahhab Azzawi presents the bent ab interno needle goniectomy (BANG) technique for goniotomy with 2 modifications. The first is using a 27-gauge needle instead of a 25-gauge needle to avoid unneeded damage to the tissues, especially the external wall of the Schlemm canal and the surrounding tissues. The second is connecting the needle to the viscoelastic to improve the visualization of the trabecular meshwork. Dr. Azzawi also shows how to control hyphema, the most common goniotomy complication, with air bubbles.
