A 15-year-old girl presents with symblepharon secondary to chemical injury. Symblepharon is a pathologic condition in which the bulbar and palpebral conjunctivae form an abnormal adhesion to one another. Most cases of symblepharon are acquired, although it can rarely be congenital, as is sometimes seen in cases of cryptophthalmos.
