In this interview from AAO 2023 about his talk at Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Subspecialty Day, Dr. John Ng discusses the advantages and disadvantages of silicone slings and fascia lata for frontalis suspension. Dr. Ng prefers using silicone slings in infants, as it's easy to insert, and in cases where there's a risk of dry eye and exposure. Fascia lata may be best if stronger support is needed or if the patient is undergoing reoperation due to a failed silicone sling. Complications from silicone slings include failure (due to tears in the stitches or breaks) and potential infection; complications from fascia lata include stiffness of the lid and the inability to close the lid.

Financial Disclosures: Dr. Nikisha Richards discloses financial relationships with Horizon Therapeutics (Consultant/Advisor). Dr. Ng discloses financial relationships with Bio-Logic Aqua Technologies (Consultant/Advisor, Stock Options - Public or Private, Equity/Stock Holder - Private), Horizon Therapeutics (Grant Support), and Immunovant (Consultant/Advisor).
