The Academy Foundation proudly recognizes its 2024 Honoree, David W. Parke II, MD, CEO of the Academy from 2009 to 2022. Join us in congratulating him for his leadership and dedicated service to ophthalmology.
Dr. Parke retired as CEO of the Academy in January 2022, after an almost 13-year journey that advanced the Academy’s mission of serving as an advocate for patients and the public, leading ophthalmic education, and advancing the profession. Dr. Parke’s tenure as CEO was both challenging and rewarding as he guided the Academy through the continually changing educational, regulatory, and clinical landscape. When asked about his key accomplishments during his tenure, Dr. Parke said he is most proud of the fact that the Academy was innovative, took risks, and achieved many new objectives.
