    Synergetics cuts losses

Synergetics USA, Inc. reported a net loss of $225,000 for the fiscal quarter ended Jan. 31, 2014, compared to a loss of $1.4 million in same period last year.

The company did not comment directly on this result but did note a 7.4 percent increase in total sales for the quarter, to $15.1 million. OEM sales increased 18.3 percent, and ophthalmic sales increased 0.6 percent from last year’s second quarter.

“Ophthalmic revenue growth benefitted from our continued progress in our commercialization  of VersaVIT, our innovative, portable vitrectomy machine, and from our recent acquisition of M.I.S.S. Ophthalmics,” said Dave Hable, president and CEO.
