    In this interview from AAO 2019, Dr. Michelle Cabrera discusses her study investigating the scope and prevalence of sexual harassment among ophthalmologists. In her survey-based report, published in the January 2019 issue of Ophthalmology, 59% of women reported experiencing sexual harassment in their ophthalmology career. Approximately 47% noted at least 1 episode within the previous 5 years. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine recently released a report on sexual harassment, recommending strategies such as bystander training or responding to sexual harassment in the moment to tackle this issue.
