In this interview from ARVO 2016, Jameel Kanji, OD, MSc, discusses his study on vision deficits in adolescents who suffered concussion. Approximately 89% of patients in his study showed binocular vision deficits following concussion. Most concussions were sports related and occurred several months prior to visual exam. Contrary to previous studies, the majority of deficits were accommodative rather than convergent. The high incidence of binocular issues underlines the need for a full visual workup after concussion.
