    Lateral Orbitotomy for Cavernous Malformation

    Oculoplastics/Orbit

Dr. Richard Allen shows how to perform a lateral orbitotomy in a patient with cavernous malformation. First, a lateral canthotomy incision with a lower cantholysis and a superior cantholysis is made. After Dr. Allen dissects down to the lateral orbital rim, the periosteum is elevated from the lateral orbital wall. Malleable retractors then bluntly dissect through the orbital fat until the tumor is finally exposed and removed. Finally, the lateral canthotomy is sutured closed.
