Management of Inadvertent Suprachoroidal Silicone Oil Injection

    Retina/Vitreous

Suprachoroidal silicone oil migration is a rare but serious complication that can occur intraoperatively or postoperatively. Previous literature has described displacing silicone oil from the suprachoroidal space with internal drainage using perfluoro-n-octane (PFO), standalone external drainage, and external drainage with air infusion. Drs. Youning Zhang and Jay Stewart present a case with a situation of inadvertent suprachoroidal silicone oil injection and a novel technique of external drainage using intravitreal PFO.
