Peeling the inner limiting membrane (ILM) of a detached retina can be challenging as the retina is often too mobile when peeling in BSS, and the ILM can be difficult to regrasp when peeling under perfluorooctane (C8F18, PFO). In this clinical video, Dr. Chirag Jhaveri describes a novel technique using a PFO "marble" to assist during ILM peeling in macular hole retinal detachment cases. Peeling around the PFO bubble maintains the advantage of PFO for counter traction, while allowing for ILM peeling in BSS.
