This 56-year-old required an IOL exchange due to the UGH syndrome. She was born with congenital cataract that required 8 previous surgeries. Her last surgery involved a secondary IOL implantation in 1986. For this surgery, a 23-Gauge pars plana vitrectomy was first performed prior to scleral fixation of an Akreos A060 IOL (Bausch + Lomb). This suture retriever makes it easier to pass the 8-0 GoreTex sutures, so surgeons can avoid the “handshake” maneuver that utilizes two 25-Gauge microforceps.

The suture retriever can be purchased from Trumed Design by contacting Chris Lumpkin at chris@trumeddesign.com
