  • Dr. Cousins is a Retina specialist focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and research of macular diseases. His clinical practice specializes in age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular diseases. He directs the Duke Center for Macular Diseases at the Duke Eye Center in Durham, North Carolina.

    Dr. Cousins’ research includes various areas of wet and dry macular degeneration. He is developing blood tests and new imaging technologies for the identification of patients who are at high risk for developing complications of macular degeneration.
