Dr. Sakamoto holds the positions of professor and chair at Kagoshima University in Japan. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan, and completed his residency at Kyushu University Hospital.
He is the author of close to 200 peer-reviewed articles. His research and clinical interests include diabetic retinopathy, triamcinolone-assisted vitrectomy, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, angiogenesis, drug delivery and gene therapy.
