IOL Exchange with Modified Yamane and Frown Incision

Dr. Enchun M. Liu demonstrates a technique for IOL exchange that combines a modified/cannula-based Yamane scleral fixation with a frown incision sclerocorneal tunnel. First described by Dr. Jack Singer in 1991, the frown incision is used in manual, small-incision cataract surgery and has value in its ability to self-seal and induce less astigmatism than some other methods. This IOL-exchange technique also utilizes a chandelier light to allow for bimanual passing of the new IOL with less manipulation of the haptics.
