Superior Hinge Flap + Circumferential Peel for Macular Holes

    Retina/Vitreous

Dr. Riley Sanders demonstrates a technique that combines two methods of macular hole repair: circumferential peeling of the parafoveal internal limiting membrane (ILM) and creation of an inverted ILM flap to cover the hole. By hinging the flap superiorly, gravity helps maintain the flap position in the early post-op period. This technique is shown on both a standard and a large, chronic macular hole and may be of particular use in patients who have more complicated macular holes.
