Peripheral visual field loss associated with increased risk of falls

Using data from the Salisbury Eye Evaluation, researchers show that for each 10 percent loss in the visual field, there was an 8 percent higher chance of falling after adjustment for other risk factors for falls. Acuity, contrast sensitivity and stereodeficiency were not associated with falling.
