AAPOS offers online CME course on pediatric glaucoma

The American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine are offering a live online continuing medical education course for physicians, Update on Pediatric Glaucoma. It takes places from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 8.

The medical school designates this activity for a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits, with credits earned eligible for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part 2 credit.

Registration closes Feb. 5. The cost is $35 for AAPOS members and $60 for nonmembers.

With lectures and discussion from internationally recognized experts in pediatric glaucoma, this course will focus on newly developed international classifications and collaborative work aimed at improving strategies for diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment of this rare but heterogeneous condition. Highlights will be presented from the World Glaucoma Association's Consensus on Childhood Glaucoma, which took place in Vancouver, Canada, in July 2013.

The course includes:

• the new classification system and related definitions developed by the Childhood Glaucoma Research Network (CGRN) and the Consensus on Childhood Glaucoma (WGA) in 2013;
• Consensus strategies for initiating appropriate treatment for childhood glaucomas; and
• Tips and pearls for common pediatric glaucoma surgeries.
