    The American Academy of Ophthalmology has commenced a national search seeking candidates for a new editor-in-chief for the Academy journal, Ophthalmology. The current editor-in-chief, Stephen D. McLeod, MD, has been appointed CEO of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, effective February 1, 2022, and given the responsibilities of this new position, Dr. McLeod’s term as the editor-in-chief will end in January 2022. 

    The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to recognize important contributions to the field of ophthalmology, oversee journal editorial activities, and enable the editorial board and reviewers to execute scholarly peer review while ensuring the successful rise in the journal’s impact factor (currently at 12.079).
