Epithelial Basement Membrane Dystrophy. The signs and symptoms of EBMD include pain, photophobia, and decreased visual acuity due to epithelial erosions. Ten percent of patients with EBMD have recurrent epithelial erosions and 50% of patients with recurrent epithelial erosion have EBMD.
