The chiasm is in intimate contact with the vessels of the Willis' circle, the third ventricle, and the hypothalamus. The pituitary gland is beneath the chiasm and optic nerves. Note the crossing fibers (Wilbrand's knee) that loop forward into the opposite optic nerve.
