    Cataract/Anterior Segment

Screening of the macula before and after surgery. a. Preoperative macular optical coherence tomography (OCT) in a routine cataract surgery with a mild epiretinal membrane. b. Patient presented 8 hours after surgery with complaints of a central scotoma. A retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) detachment was diagnosed by examination and macular OCT. After further investigation with a retinal specialist, the patient was found to have an undiagnosed parafoveal choroidal neovascular membrane. The preoperative macular OCT was useful in demonstrating baseline findings for comparison.
