In this interview from the ASRS 2013 Annual Meeting, Dr. Rubina Rahman discusses her study investigating the efficacy and safety of 23-guage phacovitrectomy for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. She found that combined surgery offers significant advantages to both patient and surgeon, offering a higher success rate and a lower incidence of proliferative vitreoretinopathy, compared with sequential surgery. Dr. Rahman also provides tips for reducing complications from combined surgery.
