In this interview from ASRS 2017, Dr. Kasra Rezaei discusses the application of widefield OCT angiography (OCTA) for noninvasive imaging of the peripheral vasculature. Paired with Zeiss swept-source OCTA, his prototype software captures high-quality images with a 120-degree field of view. The platform could enable early diagnosis and better management of many diseases, including diabetic retinopathy and vein occlusion, and could assist in monitoring patients’ response to investigative treatments. Currently, the process takes 10 to 15 minutes per eye, however, Dr. Rezaei anticipates that the imaging time will be shortened with future iterations.
