    Submacular tPA Administration

    1-Minute Video

    Retina/Vitreous

In this 1-Minute Video, Dr. Courtney Crawford demonstrates how to administer submacular tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) for submacular hemorrhage. He inserts a 41-gauge Dual Bore microcannula into the hemorrhage, taking care to enter the subretinal space and not the subretinal pigment epithelium space instead. Injecting the tPA creates a subretinal bleb. He uses fluid air-exchange to further tamponade the hemorrhage.
