    Unfolding the Fovea

    Retina/Vitreous

In this 1-Minute Video, Dr. Raj Maturi shares his tips for repairing macular folds—an uncommon complication of retinal detachment repair. He recommends bending a 38-gauge cannula and introducing a small air bubble subretinally to minimize fluid reflux. Slow infusion should resolve the fold but if not, staining and peeling the ILM can help. Once unfolded, Dr. Maturi performs air-fluid exchange and treats the retinotomy site with laser. The patient should remain face down postoperatively to facilitate early fold flattening.
