Rose Bengal Photodynamic Antimicrobial Therapy: The Bascom Palmer Experience

    8th Annual Global Video Contest

    Cornea/External Disease

Piero Carletti and colleagues describe the discovery and optimization of rose bengal photodynamic antimicrobial therapy (RB-PDAT) as an adjunct treatment for infectious keratitis. RB-PDAT could become a standard therapy to prevent progression to perforations and obviate the need for therapeutic keratoplasties. RB-PDAT could also become an affordable and effective intervention to help mitigate the burden of corneal blindness from infectious keratitis worldwide.
