Impact of Reimbursement on Glaucoma Surgery

Dr. Ronald Fellman, president of the American Glaucoma Society, talks about the difficulties of receiving higher reimbursement for glaucoma surgeries and providing access to microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) for all patients. "Microinvasive doesn't mean micro reimbursement," he says. Minimal reimbursement doesn't take into account the efforts of those who improved procedures over time so that they are safer and more efficacious, and it discourages innovation and improvements.
