Even though MIGS is relatively new, it is an important component in glaucoma care. In this interview from AAO 2017, Dr. Arsham Sheybani discusses the benefits of incorporating minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) into an ophthalmology resident's training. His institution utilizes a stepwise program, starting with gonioscopy, followed by learning angle procedures as soon as year 2. As a result, Dr. Sheybani has noticed a big uptake of ophthalmology residents choosing to specialize in glaucoma.
