The use of AI for glaucoma is challenging because physicians employ a combination of various techniques to diagnose the disease. Some technologies hold promise, however, such as those from companies investigating AI platforms using visual fields and fundus photographs. Dr. Pickering predicts that AI will one day be used as an adjunctive tool for clinicians to diagnose and manage patients with glaucoma.
