Animal study charts IOP rise during femtosecond LASIK

Researchers compared the course of IOP fluctuation during corneal flap preparation in 48 enucleated porcine globes using four femtosecond lasers: IntraLase, VisuMax, Femtec and Femto LDV. IOP varied considerably among the lasers during both a typical and worst-case (the highest possible induced IOP during excessive applanation) procedure. VisuMax showed the lowest IOP rise in both settings but was also the slowest. Femtec produced the highest IOP values during the regular procedure; IntraLase, the highest during the worst-case procedure.
