Posterior Lentiglobus and Ruptured Posterior Capsule

    By M. Edward Wilson, MD
    Cataract/Anterior Segment, Pediatric Ophth/Strabismus

Dr. M. Edward Wilson shares a case of a posterior lentiglobus with a posterior capsule that had spontaneously ruptured prior to surgery. Dr. Wilson implants a 3-piece acrylic IOL in the ciliary sulcus using membrane capture. The IOL haptics are placed in the sulcus but the optic is captured in the vitreous behind both the anterior rhexis and posterior capsule tear, securing the lens well.
