The young boy in this case has Marfan syndrome and presents with a severely subluxated lens. Dr. M. Edward Wilson performs a small vitrectorhexis, followed by aspiration of the lens material within the capsular bag. The surgeon found the lens too loose to salvage with a capsular tension ring (CTR), so the entire lens capsule and bag are removed. Following surgery, aphakic spectacles will be used until the eye has matured, and then a secondary IOL can be considered.
